Checks are making a come back!
The Great Recession of the century has changed a lot of businesses across the country and even here in Salt Lake City. Most notably attitudes have changed about money and how we value our jobs. Including attitudes about old fashioned checks. Checks are making a come back. Business in Utah and across the country have been pinching pennies to make a profit. And because of this many companies have realized that accepting credit cards for every transaction is costing them money. Not just a little, but a lot of money. As your outdoor BBQ caterer in Salt Lake City we have always preferred checks over credit cards, because it can save us up to 3%-4% on each transaction. Of course not all transaction fees are that high, but over the course of a year that 2%-3% percent on every transaction starts to add up. So it is nice to see that many local Salt Lake companies are getting back into the business of cutting each other checks for their larger transactions. The general consensus is that if a company pays with a credit card then the caterer will get their money faster. This is not always the case on larger transaction. Often times credit card companies will sit on the cash an extra day or two before depositing the large sum into the account. We appreciate all those companies that pay us with a check at time of service. We do understand that sometimes some companies accounting practices do not allow them to pay with a check at time of service and that is okay too. But it's nice to see that the old fashioned check is making a come back this decade.

Turn your Warehouse into a Showroom.
Often times clients want to throw a really nice party or open house for their customers, but they don't think they can do it. Here are some pictures of a shop garage that was turned into a very nice banquet hall for catering their guest. Last month Honnen Equipment of Salt Lake City, who is an authorized John Deere dealership wanted to put together a nice catered luncheon for all their customers and potential customers, but they were concerned about the wet spring this year being completely outdoors - the constant rains might put a damper on things. With a little bit of cleaning and vision they were able to transform this dirty industrial garage shop in to a clean dust free banquet all for all their customers. Meier's Catering set up near the large garage doors to give the Bar-B-Que the feel of being out side and to let in a lot of natural sunlight. The open house lasted for two days and even though it rained constantly the turn out was better than expected. As the guest headcount continued to rise Meier's Catering made some quick assessments and a few quick phone calls to make sure that there would be plenty of food for every last guest.

Dr. Flint's Open House - Noah's South Jordan
For the past several years Meier's Catering of Salt Lake City has been catering the customer appreciation open house for Dr. Robert L. Flint's Oral and Facial Surgery. Because his appreciation party has out grown his offices he has needed to find a place to host his party. For the past two years he has come to Noah's in South Jordan. Noah's has several different rooms to choose from anything from a large ballroom to smaller more intimate rooms upstairs. Either way all rooms very affordable when considering room rental. Yes as you can see Meier's Catering does travel to South Jordan. Meier's has worked with Noah's staff for about the last three years and highly recommends them. Their rooms are always very well kept and set up on time. Every year the girls form Flint's Oral set the room up with a theme. Last year was a Western BBQ theme with pulled pork sandwiches and shredded BBQ beef. This year the girls kept it simple and didn't dress up in any cowgirl hats, but they still put on a show as the passed out their Blue Bubble Gum Party Favors as the guest left. While the girls took care of decorations and party favors Meier's Catering grilled up some 1/4 pound hamburgers on the grill outside and grilled some juicy golden brown chicken breast. Ohhh Let's not forget about the Jumbo hot dogs.

Washington Park - Parley's Canyon
As the largest outdoor BBQ caterer in the Salt Lake Vally - Meier's Catering has traveled far and wide to share their famous Bar-B-Que chicken and ribs with the masses in Salt Lake City, Ut. Throughout those 20 plus years hey have become experts on many of the available parks in and out of Salt Lake. If they had to name an all time favorite it would be Washington Park, located off I-80 midway up Parleys Canyon at Exit 134. It's proximity to the Salt Lake is a plus - it truly is only five minutes up Parleys Canyon.
The Bowery is large and seats close to 250 people at full capacity, this is due to the extra long large tables. the Bowery has lights which is a big plus for any evening events. And if you have your company party in late September and you are worried about the cool evenings of the canyon no need to worry the Bowery has a fire place to warm up your crowd. In addition to a fire place fire pits are also available to gather around to keep warm. Other amenities include softball diamond, horseshoe sand pits, cement volleyball and clean flush toilet restrooms. Did I mention that Washington park has a playground for the kids. All these activities adjacent to Mountain Dell Golf Course, which is a great place to hold that company golf tournament in the cool mountain air, where lunch can be served by Meier's Catering in the pavilions near by.
